Challenge 1

Challenge your team

A team building exercise for a good cause. Empower your team to be healthy and productive, no matter the obstacle. Engage your staff and share a rewarding experience with colleagues.

  • Sign up to the Virtual Walk

Start by getting your team members to sign up for the Big Steps of Hope Virtual Walk. This means all of your team members will be rewarded with a T-shirt and an exclusive finisher’s medal upon completion of your team’s challenge!

  • Set the challenge

The challenge is up you. Will you go head-to-head to see who can cover the most steps, or who is the most active? Choose the challenge and choose how long you’ll be competing for (we suggest a month). Here’s some ideas for challenges:

    – Highest step count
    – Furthest distance covered
    – Most “active minutes”

  • Set up a team Fundraising page

You can take your challenge one step further by encouraging members of your team to get sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues. Set up a JustGiving page and link it to the Big Steps of Hope 2020 team page and you’ll be going to extra mile to help support the work of the MND Association.

  • Track your activites

Encourage your team to use their phone or a fitness tracker to keep a log of their daily totals, whether that’s steps, distance walked or their active minutes. Keep track of everyone’s efforts and put together a leaderboard that can be shared with the team.

  • Announce the winner!

Congratulations to the winner of your team challenge! One of you had to be at the top of the leaderboard, but the truth is you’re all winners. You’ve all taken steps to d’feet MND – share your team’s photos using the hashtag #BigStepsofHope on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

Challenge 2

Challenge another team

Go toe-to-toe with other teams in your business! Encourage your team to work together, promote positive health and wellbeing, and all staff will be rewarded for taking part.

How are teams across your business going to compete? Decide between you what the goal is going to be – is it going to be the team that can cover the most amount of steps, or the team that manages to walk the furthest distance? We’d suggest running the challenge for a month. Here’s some challenge ideas:

    – Highest step count
    – Furthest distance covered
    – Most “active minutes”

  • Set up team Fundraising pages

In an extra step of competitveness, you can take your challenge further by seeing which team can raise the most amount of money to support the MND Association. Set up a fundraising page on JustGiving for each team taking part, and link them to the Big Steps of Hope 2020 team page and everyone taking part will be going the extra mile to support a worthy cause.

  • Track your activites

Nominate a leader from each team to keep track of their team’s activities. Encourage members of your team to use their phones or fitness trackers to keep a log of their daily totals. Keep track of everyone’s efforts and share them on a leaderboard that your whole office can see!

  • Announce the winner!

Congratulations to the winning team! While one team had to be at the top of the leaderboard, the truth is you’re all winners. Everyone taking part has taken steps to d’feet MND – share your company’s photos using the hashtag #BigStepsofHope on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

Thank you for your support!
